Yamaaki - Rare 1st Generation Unglazed Rectangle Bonsai Pot (5-5/16" wide)
Yamaaki (Kataoka Akitsugi) - Very rare pot from Akitsugi; founder and the first generation of Yamaaki kiln. He is sometimes referred to as “Juuodo Shousen Yamaaki”, but either moniker represent some of the oldest work available for the kiln. This banded rectangle is beautiful and shows its’ age well.
This pot is used, in excellent condition, and has both the Akitsugi chop (stamp) on the bottom and on the side. I’m proud to offer you pots that I find fantastic. Thank you very much for your interest. Enjoy 😊

Potter/Kiln Info: Established by Akitsuga Kataoka, the Yamaaki kiln holds a legacy spanning three generations. Akitsuga, the first-generation potter, created highly sought-after pots, some now 6 decades old. His son, Sadamitsu Kataoka (Koshosen), the second generation, surpassed his father in diversity, construction, quality, and value. Toshio Kataoka, the third generation, led the kiln until its closure in 2011. Despite distinct styles, all Yamaaki pots boast good quality and usability.
